This portfolio boxed edition includes, as well, a separately boundedition of Stein's book length monograph &doublequote;Picasso&doublequote; (1938) with cover paper made by the Dieu Donne Papermill especially for this project.Finally, a new CD recording of the Thomson score, by the pianist Suzanne Craig, completes the portfolio.&newline;The portfolio celebrates the special friendship and collaboration of Gertrude and Virgil through their contact with a uniquely European artist - Picasso. Yet the roots, themes, ambitions and influence of these artists was profoundly American and flowered in the unique cultural environment Paris offered between the two great wars.&newline;&newline;Printed letterpress at the Stinehour Press (holograph score is printed offset), typography by Jerry Kelly.
