First Edition, 1712. Two books bound as one. Dimensions 4" x 6". Binding is solid. Quarter leather with significantly worn marbled boards. Very worn and rubbed extremities with bumped and worn corners. A 1" PO stamp on blank ffep. Pages are worn, foxed and chipped. A few pages are torn. Occasional ink notations. The contents are as follows: 1) A 33 page Dedication (without a title page, although we are unsure if there is supposed to be one here) written by Richard Bentley titled "To the Most Noble and Most Excellent Robert Harley, Baron of Wigmore, Earl of Oxford, and Earl Mortimer, Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain" (1711), 2) A 35 page Preface titled, "The Life of Horace, with Dr. Bentley's Preface, Latin and English, " (John Morphew, London, n.d., price 6d), 3)The Odes of Horace in Latin and English; With a Translation of Dr. Bentley's Notes (Bernard Lintott, London, 1712, price 6d). The odes were printed in 10 separate Parts, each containing at most 36 pages, all printed by Bernard Lintott and dated 1712. The Odes include: Parts 1-7 (Book 1: Odes 1-38) and Parts 8-10 (Book 2: Odes 1-20). 1-Please note: Several sections of the Odes are bound incorrectly and OUT OF ORDER. All odes are present, however.
