Maroon cloth over boards with black particulars and illustration to spine and front board. Author's signature to half-title page. Light tanning to margins and light soiling to fore edge of page 143; otherwise, pages are clean and unmarked. Previous owner's inscription to first free endpaper; otherwise, decorative endpapers are clean and bright. Text block is sunned, soiling to top edge, and two spots of soiling to fore edge. Small white dots scattered to front board, heavy rubbing and slight warping of cloth at headcap, and bumping and rubbing to edges, corners and ends of spine. Binding is tight, spine is slightly cocked. Covers of dust jacket are in good condition, but spine is heavily chipped and torn with small tape repair connecting to front cover. Covers have light shelf wear and tanning with creasing, rubbing, chipping and closed tears to edges, corners and ends of spine, red dampstain to inside lower edge, and corners cut at front flaps; writing in pencil to top corner of rear flap. Dust jacket is covered in a protective mylar jacket.
