Purchase Policy

Store credit & purchasing

We are offered a large quantity of books each week. Due to this high volume, we are only able to offer store credit* or cash for the very best of these books. What we accept is need -based and dependent on our current inventory. Curious to know if your books are of interest? Please call us or email to inquire.

*Store credit cannot be used toward new books or those on consignment. Credit will be kept on file for 2 years.

We can typically look at smaller batches of books (5 or less) as a walk-in appointment. For larger quantities, we ask you to please call ahead. We have a limited number of staff members working on any given day, so please note that if the store is busy, we may be unable to assess your books right away. If this is the case, you may be asked to fill out paperwork and leave your books for us to evaluate later.

Condition is a significant factor in determining what we are able to accept. Unless a book is exceedingly rare or covers a topic of great interest, we will only offer store credit or purchase books in good or better condition. Most books we reject due to poor condition are: musty or moldy, from the home of a heavy smoker, smell of mildew, or have been heavily marked.

We currently do NOT trade or purchase: comic books, cds, dvds, vhs, or vinyl records.

Consignment

If you are interested in consigning a book with us, please ask. In general, the book must be worth more than $200 and a subject of potential interest to our customers. Once the item is sold, the consignor will receive 60% of the sale price less any expenses incurred (i.e. website listing fees, shipping, insurance).
