Forest green cloth over boards with gilt particulars to spine and debossed decoration in debossed rule to front board. Light scattered soiling to margins throughout and previous owner's signature to top edge of first free endpaper. Previous owner's tape repairs to large tear at lower edge of pages 381-387, tape is yellowed with age, and hole torn in page 385 so text is missing to end of paragraph. Text block has soiling and shelf wear to all edges, and top edge sprayed gold. Boards are soiled particularly to lower edge of rear board with rubbing, bumping and fraying to edges, corners and ends of spine. Binding is sound. Rear inner hinge is cracked, but still holds.
