c Mid-1800's. Black leather over boards with five-raised bands, gilt bands, and gilt titling to spine. Thin gilt rule to boards. Thin blue bookmarker attached at volume two, no bookmarker present at volume one. Previous owner's writing to first free end paper and light to moderate foxing to fly leafs. Text block has marbled edges, light sunning to fore edge, and moderate sunning to top edge. Boards are clean and bright with light to moderate rubbing and bumping to edges, corners and ends of spine. Heavy bumping and tearing to leather at top corners particularly at top rear corner of volume two. Binding is tight and square.
